Mr Oliver Old

Mr Old graduated with Honours in Medicine from the University of Birmingham, and holds a degree in Neuroscience. He completed his surgical training in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, including specialist Fellowships at internationally renowned centres in Melbourne and Auckland, covering all aspects of Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Bariatric (weight loss) surgery. 

Mr Old has published papers on gallstone disease, hernias, Barrett’s oesophagus, oesophageal and gastric cancers, and weight loss surgery.

He was awarded a Research Fellowship from The Royal College of Surgeons of England to study Barrett’s oesophagus and received a research doctorate (Doctor of Medicine) from the University of Exeter for this work. This specialist interest has continued, and he is Chief Investigator on a large, international randomised trial in this field (Barrett’s Oesophagus Surveillance Study, BOSS).

Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his family in the Cotswolds. To support his interests in the treatment of obesity, he has also qualified as a Personal Trainer, to help provide informed diet and exercise advice to his patients. He enjoys keeping fit himself through cardiovascular and resistance training – practice what you preach!
