Gallstones

Gallstones are one of the most common causes of abdominal pain in the UK. 10-20% of people will develop gallstones, and they can cause severe pain, infections of the gallbladder, or result in jaundice or pancreatitis.

The diagnosis can be confirmed with a simple ultrasound scan, and treatment is usually keyhole surgery to remove the gallbladder. For most people this can be performed as a daycase procedure.
